Sunflower Bridge CEVC
In 2000, Sunflower CASA Project opened Sunflower Bridge — the Riley County Child Exchange and Visitation Center.
This project was a collaboration between CASA and the Domestic Violence Task Force and was funded by the Office of the Kansas Attorney General. Sunflower Bridge exists to ensure the safety of children during supervised visits with their parents or during exchanges for unsupervised visitation.
How to Set Up Supervised Visits and Exchanges
-
Call our program coordinator to discuss your needs and obtain the intake paperwork: 785-205-2973.
-
Each parent completes intake paperwork separately. Intake cost: $25 per parent.
-
Each parent meets separately with the program coordinator to complete the intake.
-
Start scheduling visits or exchanges!

What is a Monitored Exchange?
A monitored exchange at the Center involves the transfer of the children from one parent to another parent without parents crossing paths, and therefore, reducing the likelihood of conflict.
Benefits Of Using CEVC For Exchanges
-
The safety of both the parents and children is increased as exchanges are scheduled so parents do not come into contact with one another.
-
Children do not have to witness or experience parental conflict or violence.
-
Conflict between parents can be reduced by using a neutral third-party to coordinate dates and times.
-
Exchanges are quick and convenient!

What is a Supervised Visit
A supervised visit allows children to have time with a non-residential parent within a safe, neutral environment. Trained supervisors observe visits between the parent and child(ren) to ensure a safe and healthy visit. While the parent and child(ren) are reconnecting, our team is making sure that all behavior and conversations are physically, emotionally and mentally safe for the children. We have a security staff member on-site at all times as an added layer of safety. Our Center is designed to be child-friendly with a family room style setup, and includes games, books, and toys for use during the visit.
Benefits Of Using CEVC For Supervised Visitation
-
Assures safe contact between a child & non-custodial parent.
-
The child will not be put in the middle of the parents’ conflicts or other problems.
-
Parents do not have to communicate or have contact with each other as Sunflower Bridge staff will arrange the services.
-
Allows the custodial parent to have valuable time to themselves.
-
Non-custodial parents do not have to worry about interrupting visitation due to interpersonal problems.
-
Staggered arrival and departure times for parents increase the safety of children and parents.

Services are available to any residents of Kansas, but preference is given to residents of Riley, Clay, and Pottawatomie Counties. Individual and in-person intakes with both parents must occur before services will be provided.
Who can participate in services?

Will reports be submitted to the court?
Copies of the observation notes are provided to the courts if subpoenaed and include a summary of observations made by our Center staff. However, we do not conduct parental assessments or make recommendations. To ensure timely submission, attorneys must inform the Center of court report deadlines.
What is the cost?
Each parent must complete separate intakes with Sunflower Bridge staff before services will be provided. There is a $25.00 intake fee per party and no services will be provided before fees are paid in full. Clients are assessed service fees on a sliding fee scale according to their income. Service fees are assessed to the visiting party unless stipulated in the court order or by agreement between the parties. Income documentation is required to apply for the fee reduction.
